My friend looked at me and asked if I was okay because she knows how much those two songs, but 'Walk' especially, mean to me. And most recently at Jones Beach, where I took that friend to the show with me, I got so emotional that I was screaming, crying, stamping my feet, jumping up and down. Then again at Citi Field on when Dave was on his throne, and did the same thing. I've saw the Foo's for the first time on the 'Wasting Light' tour, and screamed and cried my eyes out during those songs, as well as 'Let It Die'. My heart had been broken, and my pride stolen. Then 'These Days', well, let's just say that when my ex asked me to move out and a month later I discovered that she had been cheating on me for about 6 months, I can relate. She was my 'signal in the distance' who helped me start 'learning to walk again' and take my life back. During that time I became very close friends with one particular young lady who really helped me get started. It was the simple things, like just saying 'thank you' for helping them out at first. It was when I got a second job working fixing computers in a retail chain that I met some people who were much younger than me, who sort of looked up to me and appreciated me. When I was realizing that my ex-wife had been emotionally abusing me for years by making me feel worthless and like nothing I ever did mattered. It was a time when I was re-discovering my self worth and becoming my own person again. 'Wasting Light' was released around the time that I finally realized my marriage of 20+ years was not just falling apart, but busted beyond all repair.
